Adding an ‘off-the-shelf’ vanity and creating a slick new ‘bathroom’ area in this laundry adds to the appeal of this small property.

Fresh, light colours helped lighten and brighten this small, badly lit unit. Increasing the perception of space creates a more pleasant environment to live in.

Water-blasting the exterior entirely and painting just the lower unit (owned independently of the upstairs unit) significantly modernises it. To tie it in with the upstairs unit (to create cohesion between the two) the trims of the upstairs unit are painted the same colour as the trims on the downstairs unit. Replacing the existing pergola with a new black canvas canopy further adds to the look for a cost of around $800.

Moving the threshold strip between carpet and vinyl gives the appearance of a larger lounge space. Lighter (yet still practical) flooring colours further lightens this internal space.
