Create a visual anchor
If you were to stand on the road and look along the driveway towards your house, you should be able to get an idea of how your property presents, and how much ‘visual anchoring’ it needs. To visually anchor a property is to give it a sense that the house is anchored in place. It is quite a subtle thing but when done well, it makes an enormous difference to the overall aesthetic of the entire property.

$150,000 profit (before tax)! Here's a great example that might inspire you if you're planning to renovate for a profit. Our clients (a Joint Venture partnership) bought this property for $420,000. They contacted us at the beginning of the project and for one up-front fee (under $2000 for this property, even being a dual occupancy), we told them exactly what they should do to their property including the exterior and entire interior. They spent $150,000 (a bit over their intended budget but the return made it worthwhile!). After the renovation, the property was valued at $720,000 by a registered valuer. Very happy for these guys!
